Shop Small: Canadian Businesses

Tomorrow is Black Friday and Cyber Monday is in a couple of days. It's the time of year where every company has a massive sale going on - from large corporations to small, local businesses. I can't lie and say I don't shop from the large companies. Between toys, clothes for the whole family, and electronics, I have to shop from the big boys because they're affordable and have what I need for Christmas gifts.

However, I do shop small too. Usually my own Christmas wish list has items from some local or smaller companies. I love buying handmade for friends and I usually get an item or two for Emma that's handmade.

This year has been hard on small and independent businesses, so I'm making even more of an effort to buy small this year. A good chunk of my own gifts will be from small businesses, I have plans to grab coffee and treats from our local coffee shops and bakeries, and I've been placing Etsy orders.

I wanted to share a few of my favourite small businesses with you!

Clockwise from the top:
1. Campy Home - based in Ottawa, they make incredible soy candles with the best scents!
2. Rustic Roots - local company that makes adorable scrunchies and great printed apparel.
3. Papricots - Toronto-based artist with the cutest designs, including these card wallets (I have 2!) They're the best to keep your purse organized!

Clockwise from the top:
1. Needlings - makes the cutest plush, including these plush donut ornaments (we're getting one for the tree this year!)
2. Wednesday and Rose - my favourite soy candles from a Guelph-based maker. Message me for my favourite scents that I buy over and over again!
3. My Cat is People - British Columbia-based artist. Her Instagram is full of adorable kitties and her cat-inspired designs. There's pins, buttons, and magnets, which are the cutest gifts for any catlady. Plus, she has free downloadable colouring pages!

If you have a small business to recommend, leave it in the comments for readers to check out!
